THE FUTURE OF THE HIGH STREET

Improvements continue at King’sWalk

It is all go at King’s Walk Gloucester. Phase one of works to improve the customer shopping experience has been completed in time for the busy festive period, and there is plenty more to come. King’s Walk car park has recently undergone an overhaul, as has the customer journey to the car park and the pedestrian route down to the main centre on the ground floor. Wayfinding lighting and signage have all been improved and decoration of key customer areas completed as part of the phase one works. Reef Group, in partnership with Gloucester City Council, is now finalising exciting plans for phase two, which will include the Eastgate Street elevations and reconfiguring the key retail units that face Eastgate Street.

As part of these works, it is expected that new retailers, yet to be named, will open in the scheme to strengthen the current offer to King’sWalk customers. Deichmann opening its first store in Gloucester inside King’s Walk has proved a real boost for customers, as will the addition of public toilets and the new Greggs unit - both planned for early in the New Year. Peter White, centre manager for King’s Walk Gloucester said: “It’s been a very busy period for us, managing the centre through the development, but it’s encouraging to see the improvements being made for our customers. “We are looking forward to finalising future phases of the development and welcoming new tenants into the scheme in 2020, along with the works to King’s
