LES HABS POUR LA VIE! S P O R T S
Rock on Louise ! (Fournie par Brigitte Henrie)

With a full week of rest behind them, the Rockland Nationals padded the stats sheets against the Braves with a dominating 8-1 victory in Brockville. Coming off a 6-3 win over the Braves just five days earlier, the Nats hoped to once again earn some points as they chase down the second place Cornwall Colts, who sat just four points ahead of the Nats at the start of the game. Nats’ captain Xavier Laurent was the first to on the board with an eighth minute power- play goal, followed by Anthony Hall (also on a powerplay) and Trystan-Félix Tremblay to give the visitors a three-point lead in less than 14 minutes. Even if the Braves clawed one back in the first, Mathis Bedard took advantage of another powerplay to maintain the three-point lead before the end of the first period. The Nats’ also outshot the Braves 15 to nine. In the second period it was once again all Rockland. Jaden Davis and Alex Kelloway (short-handed) extended the Nats’ lead to five as Rockland once again outshot their opponents despite spending six minutes short-handed throughout the period. Hall scored again in the third and Samuel Dumont provided the nail in the Braves’ coffin in the final five minutes of the game, bringing the final score to 8-1 in favour of the Nats. Next on the docket for Rockland is double- header against the Bears starting with an away game in Smiths Falls on Friday, February 9, with a home game the following day.
(Patrick Bergeron)
