In all our plans tor a profitable summer, let there be a Complete change from the general routine o f study or work. Take up things that you really enjoy. Plan wisely. The Christian Endeavorer who plans wisely for a profitable summer can help his society as well as enjoy his vacation. At some time during thé summer, C. E. conventions and Bible, conferences are being held throughout the country. Find Out the dates of thé one being held near est you and plan to attend. Get all you can out o f it, by taking notes, and bring hack some of the good things for your own society to enjoy. The fellowship and inspiration o f such a convention or con ference is worth many times the cost. It is at such places you make new acquaint ances, which often materialize into last ing friendships^ Plan to be a blessing to someone else and your summer will be spent in a most profitable way.- Somé Scripture thoughts on the sub ject. A timé to rest. Ex. 34 :21. ■ A time to serve. Gal. 5:13, 14. A time to study. Ps. 119:33-40. A time to travel. John 2:13-17. A time for devotions. Ps. 9 :1-16. A time to help someone. 2 Kings 5 :1- 14. —o— C hoice N uggets Those who devote themselves to the peaceful study o f nature have but little temptation to launch out upon the tem pestuous sea o f ambition; they will scarcely be hurried away by the more violent or cruel passions, the ordinary failings of those ardent persons who do not control their conduct; but, pure as thé objects of their researches, they will feel for everything about them the same benevolence which they see nature dis play toward all her productions.—Cuvier. The best thing is to go from nature’s God down to nature; and if you once get to nature’s God, and believe Him, and love Him, it is surprising how easy it is to hear music in the waves,; and songs; -fin the wild whisperings o f the winds; to see God everywhere'.jin the stones, in the rocks, in the rippling brooks, and hear Him everywhere, in the low ing o f cattle, in the rolling o f thunder, and in the fury óf tempests. Get Christ first, put Him in the right place, and you will find Him to be the wisdom of God in your own experience.—C. H. Spur geon. Naturé is too thin a screen; the glory Of God breaks in everywhere.—Emerson. It is not the reading o f many books which is necessary to make a man wise or good, but the well-reading of a few, could he be sure to have the best And it is not possible to read over many oil the same subject without a great deal o f loss of precious time.—Richard Baxter. The habit o f reading is the only enjoy ment I know in which there is no alloy. It lasts when all other pleasures fade. It will be there to support when all other resources are gone. It will be present to you when the energies of your body have fallen away from you. It will last you until your death. It will make your hours pleasant to you as long as you live. ^Trollope. Men cannot labor on always. They must have intervals o f relaxation. They cannot sleep through these intervals. What are:they to do ? Why, if they do not work or sleep, they must have recreation.
