RETROFITGRANTSTOBOOST ENERGY-EFFICIENT IN IRISHHOMES

Grants of more than €25,000 will be offered to individual householders in the Republic of Ireland to help them retrofit their homes and make them more energy efficient. The €8 billion Government led National Home Energy Upgrade Scheme will provide increased grant levels covering around half the cost of a typical deep retrofit, with the aim of improving a dwelling’s energy efficiency to a high B2 rating. A key part of the plan will be a network of ‘one-stop shops’ throughout the country that will offer a simplified service for homeowners, covering everything

from grant application process and initial home assessment, through to the construction work and final BER assessment. Grant supports - under the Better Energy Homes Scheme - for homeowners that want to take a step-by-step approach to upgrading their homes have also been significantly increased. An enhanced grant rate, equivalent to 80% of the typical cost, for attic and cavity wall insulation will be made available to all households. The scheme is being administered by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI). www.seai.ie
