Mayor Desjardins has no fear of the Ombudsman
marizing all complaints received involving the MUSH sector. During the past four-year term of the pre- vious council, the City of Clarence-Rockland was the subject of several Ombudsman in- vestigations into complaints about the way City Hall and the mayor’s office handled the issues of closed meetings, sudden changes of venue for council sessions, and other concerns of residents. When he was coun- cillor for the St-Pascal-Baylon ward during the last term, Desjardins himself filed one of those complaints to the Ombudsman’s office. Now that he is mayor, Desjardins wel- comes the expansion of the Ombudsman’s expanded investigative authority. “It’s not a bad thing to have,” he said. Desjardins and city staff have an upcom- ing conference call later this month with the Ombudsman’s office regarding results of past investigations of complaints about the actions of the previous council and mayor’s office. He indicated he is looking forward to the discussion with the Ombudsman about the past situation in Clarence-Rockland and will be ready to comment at a later date on both the report results and the Ombuds- man’s recommendations.

CLARENCE CREEK | One thing that doesn’t worry Clarence-Rockland’s new mayor is getting a call from the Ontario Ombuds- man. “The Ombudsman is a safety value,” said Mayor Guy Desjardins, during a Thursday evening interview prior to the start of the Dec. 11 open meeting on future develop- ment charges. “There’s nothing wrong with that.” As of mid-December, the Ontario Om- budsman’s office has new investigation authority and powers to deal with public complaints about the MUSH sector of the province. MUSH stands for: municipalities, universities and colleges, school districts, and hospitals. These public sector areas of the lower- tier level of government have been exempt from the Ombudsman’s authority to order changes in behaviour or procedure. The Ombudsman’s office has kept track of such complaints, though, and each year the of- fice publishes a report detailing and sum-

Il est le fils de Rémi Villeneuve et d’Ida Thériault. Alain est le frère d’Hélène, Lucie, Serge, Yves, Chantal et de feu Gilles, tous élevés à Notre-Dame-des-Champs. Alain est reconnu pour son expertise en rénovation intérieure. Ses passe-temps favoris sont la chasse, la pêche et le tir à l’arc.

Alain rencontre Christine Chrétien à Notre-Dame- des-Champs. Christine est à l’emploi de la Caisse populaire Cyrville-Rockland, centre de service Notre-Dame-des-Champs et Alain est membre de la caisse. Christine Chrétien naît le 17 octobre 1966 à Rockland. Elle est la fille de Michel Chrétien et de Kathleen Hamilton. Christine est la sœur de Michel et de Sharon. Elle habite toujours à Rockland et elle a le bonheur de grandir entourée de deux générations, sa grand-mère Chrétien et sa grand- mère Pilon. Christineoccupe lepostededirectrice des opérations à la Caisse populaire Trillium et est responsable du Centre de services Rockland. Les voyages, la lecture, l’activité physique et la gastronomie sont ses passe-temps favoris.

Leur fils Yanick naît le 15 mars 1994 à l’hôpital Montfort d’Ottawa. Il est actuellement à l’Université d’Ottawa où il poursuit ses études en histoire et en science politique. Alain et Christine sont des gens très accueillants et aiment recevoir leurs familles et amis pour un bon repas, toujours très bien préparé.
