Last week, during a stop in St. Isidore, Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown (far right) spoke with egg and crop farmowner Markus Haerle (second right) about his latest struggles with electricity costs. They were joined by, left to right, CEO of Grain Farmers of Ontario Barry Senft, MPP for Nepean-Carleton Lisa MacLeod, and Ontario PC candidate for Glengarry- Prescott-Russell Amanda Simard. “The Wynne Liberals’ unfair hydro scheme is not working for farmers. They continue to express frustration with the high price of electricity,” said Brown. “Mr. Haerle is just one of many examples. He has not benefitted from the government’s failed rebate program, and unfortunately was forced to make a very difficult decision to reduce his electricity bills.” Haerle, who has been looking for ways to save on his electricity bill, has invested $50,000 in co- generation as a way to cut down on these costs. —submitted photo
