NATIONAL PAYROLL WEEK

DurhamCounty Council

Cintra HR and Payroll As brass is a traditional gift for a 21st anniversary Cintra themed its activity accordingly and focussed on collecting small change in strategically placed pockets in a bespoke ‘Cintra Fairground’, where employees could take a well-earned break and indulge in some light-hearted fun, exchanging their copper for a turn on the likes of the penny arcade, tin can alley, hook a duck or our very own creation, ‘brass in pocket’! As always, we like to support a worthy cause as part of our National Payroll Week activity and this year Cintra will match the money raised at the fairground, which will go towards the fundraising pot of our three brave boxers: Reece ‘Ricco’ Calvert, Lysa ‘Pocket Rocket’ Morrison, and Carrina ‘Carriba Carriba’ Adamson, who are taking part in an ultra white collar boxing match later this month, in aid of Cancer Research.

The council’s CIPP-accredited payroll team ‘stepped up’ to celebrate National Payroll Week 2019 by getting out and about for lunchtime walks to boost their physical and mental health. The team set a number of payroll related milestones and each lunchtime clocked up steps towards their goals. With a grand total of 481,756 steps across the week, they managed to achieve the following milestones: ● 1,504 combined years’ service of the employees currently working within the team ● 3,909 combined age of the employees within the team ● 19,564 number of temporary payroll inputs made each month by the team ● 38,676 number of payslips produced by the team for external customers (including online payslips) ● 39,741 total number of salary payments made by the team each month ● 44,737 headcount of Durham County Council and external payroll customers ● 260,994 car journeys claimed in the last year ● 476,896 number of payments made by the team last year!

Nurseplus

Nurseplus hosted the Annual Great Payroll Bake Off where a member of the payroll team baked a tasty, tea-time treat every day for the others to score in secret. From cheeky cheese scones to melt-in-the-mouth brownies, the standards were the highest seen to date. The winner baked a delicious apple and blackberry pie and was awarded a prestigious plate for their efforts. The team have already been planning next year and a technical challenge may be on the cards! The whole business also got involved with a fun quiz about the payroll profession and the team, with one lucky winner receiving a retail voucher. A big thank you to the CIPP for their support. The team are looking forward to National Payroll Week 2020.
