things to confound the mighty, and the things which are not to bring to naught the things that are.” Prayer and fasting. At certain periods these' days have proved to be o f great spiritual uplift, but are not held for the sake o f something different. W e have a purpose. Our Prayer Program is not hard and fast, but with plenty o f leeway for the Holy Spirit to direct. Prayer lists are reg ularly kept before the people. The Boards of Elders and Deacons have a definite Prayer program. “ The Quiet hour” has made over the Christian Endeavor society spiritually. The spirit o f prayer pervades opening exercises o f the Sunday school. Prayer has a real part in the chorus choir. The ladies aid, and the missionary societies place strong emphasis here. Sick are men tioned by name in prayer at the mid-week prayer meeting. Sermons with prayer top ics; special prayer circles; neighborhood prayer meetings, etc., have all borne rich fruit. . A large program of Bible study. The evangelistic church should have the atmos phere charged with the spirit o f Bible study. The people will always follow a real leader in this. Successful studies have been conducted in some o f the prominent Books o f the Bible. Studies in dispensa- tional truths always attract. Pastor’s instruction class for boys and girls, ten to fourteen years o f age, study Church gov ernment, Bible drills, life o f St. Paul, etc. Primary department study, special list of important Bible questions which should pre pare them for church membership. For neighborhood Bible classes, the congrega tion is divided into twenty-four districts.

Naturally this spirit will manifest itself first in the pastor. The evangelistic pastor is not necessarily one who always preaches so-called evangelistic sermons, or who at every meeting gives the invitation for men to accept Christ, or who always has large accessions to his church membership. To one who has the evangelistic spirit, it is not a question o f mere form or plans only, these must be had, but a definite lead ing o f the Holy Spirit. Such a man will always be an evangelistic preacher. It’s the Spirit that counts. The invisible power back o f the visible acts. In the Glendale church, this Spirit of Evangelism has been the dominant note for the past six years, and the Lord has wonderfully set to it His seal, both in material and spiritual results. The num ber uniting with the church has averaged more than one hundred annually, and never a Communion service passes without addi tions o f such as,are saved. This church has always emphasized the great outstand ing doctrines o f the word o f God. This fact has figured largely in the development o f the evangelistic spirit, and enabled us to use all the regular machinery o f the church for an all-the-year-round program o f definite evangelism. In mentioning briefly some o f the details, it is with a profound recognition o f the power o f the Holy Spirit, who uses “weak
