Our Surface Engineering and Advanced Materials Group, led by Professor Peter Kelly, is currently collaborating with the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais in Brazil and Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok to explore their use for treating water, and investigating their potential for stopping the spread of viruses such as the Zika virus by preventing mosquito larvae from hatching in water.

Professor Michael Symmons Roberts

Edgelands , co-authored with Paul Farley, was an early example of the new ‘place-writing’ genre, and winner of the Jerwood Prize for Non-Fiction in 2010. Drysalter won both the Costa Poetry Prize and the Forward Prize in 2013. His poetry has also been shortlisted for the Griffin International Prize and the TS Eliot Prize.
