Well-developed skills appropriate to the leadership and management of a professional services department (management and development of professional staff; planning and resource management; chairing skills; budget management and control; report writing; change, time and project management and quality enhancement. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate a clear vision, highly-developed influencing, networking, collaborative working and representational skills and the ability to build constructive relationships and consensus, developing a positive profile for self and the University. Ability to work under pressure, maintaining a robust yet flexible approach to staff management. Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to explore, evaluate and interpret complex sets of information, draw conclusions, report and recommend potential solutions with practicable courses of action. An understanding of CAFM systems and other software used within the Estates and FM environment. Good understanding and knowledge of the challenges facing the HE sector. Has specialist knowledge of Estates and FM operations and service delivery Good grasp of Financial governance and budgetary controls Knowledge of quality standards and systems eg ISO 9001, ISO 14000, ISO 45000 and similar. A degree or equivalent qualification, or substantial relevant experience that demonstrates literacy, numeracy and analytical skills. A degree level qualification in Business Administration or equivalent evidence of business and leadership training. Extensive experience at a senior level in a related role. Experience of delivering cost-effective support services in a professional and fast-changing environment. Experience of matrix management of staff. Experience of working in a strategic communications role whilst working with colleagues at all levels and across a broad range of administrative and academic areas to influence change. Experience of developing persuasive business cases, business plans and budgets and of managing them effectively
