The History of Planting and Harvesting Corn by Hand Hills Bank in Iowa City (1401 South Gilbert St) Wednesday, March 21, 2:00 p.m.

From the series "The History of Ordinary Things” with engaging storyteller and freelance curator Doris Montag, this exhibit transports the audience to a time between manually placing seeds into the ground and the high-tech mechanization of planting today. The early tools featured in this presentation include hand corn planters and grain seeders. During a time when farmers hand- picked corn, this rare collection of husking pegs and husking hooks will outline the varied history of domesticated agriculture between the 1850’s-1930’s. These artifacts are from James Montag's (Doris' father) collection. Register with a Friends Club representative at 319-679-2103 or Jaime_Roberts@HillsBank.com.
