How Iowa Met Baseball: the Myths, the History, and the Players Hills Bank in Cedar Rapids (3905 Blairs Ferry Rd) Friday, April 6, 10:30 a.m. John Liepa, DMACC Professor Emeritus and lifelong baseball card collector, will delve into baseball’s historical aspects, from early myths surrounding the sport’s “invention,” origins, and evolution of the game, to the Civil War’s impact on the spread of baseball. Liepa localizes the presentation to focus on players’ relevance to Iowa and will display his extensive collection of baseball cards for viewing before and after his presentation.
