As they sa t in th e mellow evening ligh t listening to th e soft bleating of th e sheep, suddenly the heavens were ablaze w ith a strang e glory and a shining angel appeared to th e shepherds saying, “ Behold, I bring you good tidings of g reat joy— for unto you is born th is day in th e City of David a Savior which is Christ the Lord.’’ Then suddenly a m u ltitud e of th e heavenly host appeared singing th e w onderful chorus, “ Glory to God in th e highest.” As the angels disappeared and th e glory faded away, the shepherds felt a g reat happiness and peace stealing into th eir hearts, for th e long looked fo r event had tak en place, -—th e King had come! H urriedly they made th e ir way to Bethelehem , and th ere in a stable lying in a rude manger lay th e in fan t Jesus, th e ir Saviour and King. W ith h earts filled w ith joy, th e shepherds retu rn ed to th e ir work, glorifying and praising God th a t th e Lord, the K ing of glory, had a t last come to be w ith them . STUDY THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS AND WR ITE THE ANSWERS IN YOUR BOOK. FIRST WEEK I. Read Gen. 3:15, and w rite in th e book th e following sentences, (1) “ It (Christ) shall bruise thy (S atan ’s) head and thou (Satan) shall bruise His (C h rist’s) heel.” Gen. 3:15. (2 ). This is th e first prom ise of a Saviour in the Bible. II. Read Isa. 53, and all w rite in book V. (Always w rite reference afte r quotation from B ible). Boys and girls 10 to 12 years inclusive, are to w rite a sho rt description of Jesus as He is pictured in Isa. 53, using not more th a n seventy- five words. Children 7 to 9 years, inclusive, may w rite five sentences describing Jesus as He is pictured in Isa. 53. III. Who were Isaiah, Jerem iah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Micah? Answer questions in one sentence.) IV. Read Micah 5: 2, and state in book th e nam e of the place where Micah says Christ was to be born. (Always answer questions in a sentence). V. Read Matt. 2:1 and Luke 2:4-7, an d sta te in your book w hether Micah w a# correct in his prophecy. VI. Micah lived and prophesied about seven hundred years before Christ was born. (1) How do you th in k he knew ju st where Jesus was to be born? (2 ) W hat does th is prove to you about the Bible? (Answer both questions in sentences). SECOND WEEK I. Read Luke 1:26-35 and answer th e following ques­ tions in your book. (1 ). Why was th e angel Gabriel sent by God to ta lk to Mary? (2 ). W hat message did he give h er abou t Jesus? (vs. 32 and 33). (3 ). Read Luke 1:35 and answer in a sentence “Who was th e F ath e r of Jesu s?” II. Read Luke 2:1-18 and Matt. 2:1-12, and w rite a story in your own words, using as your subject, “Jesu s’ B irthday.” (Boys and girls 10 to 12 inclusive, allowed 150 words. Children 7 to 9 ten sentences). : THIRD WEEK I. Read Luke 2:21-40 and answer th e following ques­ tions: (1 ). How old was th e baby Jesu s when he was circumcised (dedicated t o 1 God) and given His name, Jesus?, .(vs. 21 and 22. (2 ). W hat two people in the tem ple/w ere glad to see Jesus? (3 ). W hat word in v. 30

Draw a simple outline map of Palestine, locating th e following p la c e s,^D e a d Sea, Sea of Galilee, Nazareth, Bethlehem , Jerusalem . (See a Bible A tlas,) Map should be drawn on un ruled paper.
