The Editor,
There was a display on the life of our
forefathers on May 9 and 10, 2008 at Paul
Bougie Hall in Calumet, Grenville-sur-la-
Rouge.
In 2010, I formed a committee to research
the first family chosen by us which was the
McEvoy’s.
Why the McEvoy’s, you ask? In 1954 I
bought my river lots from Jack McEvoy. I

was a young man and both Annie McGill-
McEvoy and Jack McEvoy were very good
to me. When I ventured into the woods
alone in minus-26 degree weather with my
snowshoes on my back, Annie McEvoy
would pray for me since she did not think
this was very wise. At that time she called
meRabbit Tom.All theMcEvoy ladiesknew
me under this alias. Years later I learned of
Annie’s concern for my wellbeing. I also
now live on McEvoy Street. I have had this
street named McEvoy. For all these reasons
and others I felt this community should
recognizethecontributionbythisIrishfamily
of pioneers.
Since this modest beginning theMcEvoy
family has been displayed in our municipal
libraryinPointe-au-Chêneandwrittenabout
in great detail. During all these activities

I also received an enthusiastic telephone
call from her and a request to donate our
research along with the supporting photos
to the Argenteuil Regional Museums.
On Oct. 21, 2011, my wife and I met Mrs.
Fuller and we are now preparing our work
for eventual display in the archives. These
archives are available after an appointment
