Local Spotlight: Sinnissippi Centers by Savannah Fagan

In recent years, the importance of prioritizing an individual’s mental health has been recognized more so than ever before. In the past, discussing this subject was seen as negative and seeking services could be difficult, which is when Sinnissippi Centers stepped up. Establishing in the 1960’s, Sinnis - sippi Centers had an initiative to change the stigma and make mental health services more accessible to individuals. There are several types of services available to children, adolescents and adults, including mental health and substance use services. There are several groups open to clients and they offer family and couple counseling as well, and have psychiatrists that are able to prescribe medication as well.

A benefit of being a Crest Foods employee is the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which means employees can utilize the benefits of Sinnissippi Centers at no cost. Currently, employees are able to set up a phone, video or in person visit with Ashley Koza. Ashley started with Sinnissippi Centers in 2012 as an intern and was hired full time in 2014 as a family and adolescent therapist which morphed into a blended clinician. With an expected leave coming up, Nikki Principato will be covering her absence. Nikki started as an intern in 2019 and was hired on after that. She has experience with both adolescents and adults with mental health concerns and will be offering virtual sessions via phone or video during Ashley’s leave. If a current Crest employee is interested in scheduling an appointment, please call the Oregon office at (815) 732- 3157 and inform clerical that they are a Crest employee. The initial appointment typically explains how EAP ser- vices work and identifies some goals that the individual would like to work on.
