ONTARIO ENERGY BOARD NOTICE TO CUSTOMERS OF ENBRIDGE GAS DISTRIBUTION INC. AND UNION GAS LIMITED

Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc. and Union Gas Limited have applied for approval to amalgamate to form a single gas distribution, transportation and storage company. Learn more. Have your say. Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc. and Union Gas Limited have applied to the Ontario Energy Board to amalgamate to form a single natural gas distribution, transportation and storage company effective January 1, 2019. The amalgamated utility would serve over 3.5 million natural gas customers in Ontario. Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc. and Union Gas Limited say that their customers will not pay any costs related to the amalgamation and that if the Ontario Energy Board approves the amalgamation, customers will receive a total benefit of $410 million over a ten-year period. The rates that Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc. and Union Gas Limited currently charge customers are set using two separate frameworks that expire at the end of 2018. The Ontario Energy Board would normally review the costs of each of the gas utilities to set new rates starting in 2019. In a separate application, Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc. and Union Gas Limited have asked the Ontario Energy Board to defer its full review of their costs for 10 years and have proposed a methodology for setting rates from 2019 to the end of 2028 using a formula. The Ontario Energy Board will review this rate proposal in a separate proceeding. You can review the notice and related documents for that The OEB will hold a public hearing to consider the application filed by Enbridge Gas and Union Gas. We will question both companies on the case. We will also hear arguments from individuals and from groups that represent the customers of both Enbridge Gas and Union Gas. At the end of this hearing, the OEB will decide whether to approve the application. The OEB is an independent and impartial public agency. We make decisions that serve the public interest. Our goal is to promote a financially viable and efficient energy sector that provides you with reliable energy services at a reasonable cost. Apply by December 20, 2017 or the hearing will go ahead without you and you will not receive any further notice of the proceeding. • At the end of the process, review the OEB’s decision and its reasons on our website. La Journée UNIS Ottawa, à laquelle ont par- ticipé plus de 16 000 élèves et enseignants, plusieurs en provenance de Prescott-Rus- sell, a eu lieu le mercredi 15 novembre au Centre Canadian Tire. La Journée UNIS est une célébration qui rassemble des élèves, des enseignants, des artistes et des conférenciers du monde entier dans des salles, pour leur faire vivre l’expérience de la meilleure salle de classe aumonde. Aucun billet ne peut être acheté pour cet évènement – les gens sont invités se- lon lemérite de leurs engagements commu- nautaires et de leurs actions pour des causes locales ou internationales. De nombreux animateurs et conférenciers de renommée internationale ainsi que des artistes primés font des présentations auprès demilliers de jeunes afin d’inspirer la nouvelle génération. Cette année, des élèves des écoles de Russell, d’Embrun, de Rockland et de Hawkesbury ont participé à la Journée UNIS pour écouter et participer aux histoires de changements et de leadership provenant de personnalités internationales, qui travaillent à changer le monde et veulent inspirer les jeunes à faire la même chose. La Journée UNIS Ottawa de cette année accueillait de grands noms – l’ex secrétaire général des Nations unies et diplomate sud- coréen Ban Ki Moon, le capitaine des Séna- teurs d’Ottawa Erik Karlsson, le journaliste et auteur canadien Alexandre Trudeau, le musicien ShawnHook, l’olympienne cana- dienne Silken Laumann et l’activiste des Premières nations et professeure à l’Univer- sité d’Ottawa Claudette Commanda, entre autres. « Nous avons tous besoin de moments de déroute, d’isolement et de peur pour être complètement ouverts aux autres, a affirmé Alexandre Trudeau, réalisateur, journaliste et auteur. C’est ça, le voyage : le chemin dif- ficile vers la sagesse et la compassion. C’est pourquoi nous ne devons pas avoir peur des endroits inconnus et des étrangers, mais être prêts à les accueillir. » La Journée UNIS visite plusieurs villes au Canda, aux Etats-Unis et en Angleterre. Les prochaines Journées UNIS auront lieu à Halifax le 30 novembre, à Montréal les 21 et 22 février, à Londres le 7mars et les dates pour Chicago et Seattle sont à venir.
