Dr. Richard J. Gallot, Jr.: President of Grambling State University

On leading Grambling State University, Dr. Gallot says “Being President is an awesome opportunity to serve people on every level - students, state leaders, faculty, and our alums. That includes the chance to create progress on all fronts: the balance sheet, the grade books, and in the hallways your students depend on to learn. I’m proud to say that we’ve seen growth on many of these fronts. On the balance sheet, we’ve not only seen an increase in participation and the amount of alumni giving, we’ve increased our grant and research funding and growth in corporate investments. We have also found new ways to improve our stewardship and accountability. Dr. Richard J. “Rick” Gallot, Jr. (Gamma Psi 1985) is the 10 th President of Grambling State University. Dr. Gallot is a former Louisiana State Senator and Louisiana State Representative. From 2000 to 2012, Gallot held the District 11 seat in the Louisiana House of Representatives. He served three terms in the house before winning his first term in the Senate in 2011. Gallot did not seek re- election in the October 24, 2015 election.

Jr. is a native of Ruston, Louisiana. Dr. Gallot is a 1987 Grambling State University graduate where he received a bachelor of arts in Arts & History. He earned his Juris Doctorate from Southern University in 1990.
