STATE OF THE EAST CENTRAL PROVINCE

Darren Jordan East Central Province Polemarch

Under the Leadership of Prov- ince Polemarch Darren “DJ” Jordan, the East Central Province has done a phenomenal job of upholding the Fraternity’s mantra of Achievement. The East Central Province continues to play a vital role in moving Kappa Alpha Psi forward, while simultaneously em- bracing the Six-Point Plan, articulated by our Grand Polemarch Thomas L. Battles, Jr. and the 33 rd Administration. While the East Central Province serves as good stewards of the many programs and initiatives of this great Fraternity, we have attempted to remain consis- tent in our goals and purposes, as well as to align ourselves as closely as pos- sible with those goals of Grand Chapter and of the 33 rd Administration. Community Service - Inspire pub- lic service through parallel initiatives on all levels of the Fraternity. The East Central Province recog- nized the charge and accomplished the following: • Hosted Province- Wide “Safe Sleep Initiative” programs in Colum- bus, OH. – Feb. 2018 and 2019 and introduced its Health and Wellness Fair during our Province Council in 2018 in Youngstown, OH. “Rebirth, Reclaim, Recommit, by Leaving No Brother Behind”

• Established a Province -Wide Com- munity Service event during Province Council weekend. Members made financial contributions to a domestic abuse shelter for women during the 2018 Province Council in Youngstown, OH and presented the organization with a check. At the 2019 Province Coun- cil, the members took up collections of clothing, dried food items and toiletries for the men at the St. Joseph House of Hospitality in Pittsburgh, PA. • Sponsored two Kappa Kampers at Paul W. Quinn College in Dallas, TX. for 2017-2018 and then again for the 2018- 2019 Fraternal year. • Supported the Smithsonian Nation- al Museum of African American His- tory & Culture with a $25,000 pledge ($5,000 annually for five years) to assist in the Fraternity’s support of this initia- tive. • Raised funds at Province Council in 2018 and 2019 in support of the St. Jude’s Children Research hospital and the Sunday of Hope Campaign. • Created a Province Commu- nity Service Day, which resulted in the “Habitat for Humanity Day” in 2018. The event took place in four separate cit- ies (Cincinnati, Akron, Morgantown and Pittsburgh, simultaneously.) The 2019 Community Service Day took place on Saturday April 27 th and all Chapters were encouraged to engage with their

favorite local charity.

• Participated in the National “Learn to Live” program, sponsored by Grand Chapter and the local chapter of N.O.B.L.E. The event was held in Columbus, OH and cosponsored by the Columbus Alumni Chapter and brought out close to 250 youths. • Conducted the Membership Re-engagement Ceremony (Amnesty) on four separate occasions, September 2017 and February 2018, September 2018 and February 2019. The result was the reclamation of 10 Brothers total who returned home to Kappa. • Participated in the National Found- ers Day Celebration weekend in Tampa, Fl. with over 50 Brothers from the Prov- ince in attendance. • Reclaimed several Brothers through a variety of events throughout the Prov- ince that included: The Iota Mu Chap- ter 40- year anniversary; The Pittsburgh PA Alumni Founders day event and the first ever East Central Province-wide Founders Day event held in Cincinnati, OH in January of 2018. 5. New Member Recruitment and Training - Grow the Fraternity’s finan- cial roll by identifying and implementing effective strategic initiatives aimed at re-energizing inactive membership. The East Central Province recog- nized the charge and accomplished the following:
