STATE OF THE EAST CENTRAL PROVINCE
• Identified brothers who will work to increase philanthropic support and expand Province revenue. Including the planning of our Province Wide Founders Day celebration to take place in January of 2020 at the Downtown Hilton Hotel in Cleveland, OH, which will be in con- junction with Cleveland (OH) Alumni celebrating its 100 th year as a recognized Alumni Chapter in the Fraternity. Summary The East Central Province conclud- ed its 2018-2019 Fraternal year with its Annual Province Council, held in Pittsburgh, PA. from April 11 th through April 14 th . New Officers were inducted, a wonderful keynote address was given by Brother Cleophus Thomas, Esq, General Counsel of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Funds were raised for the Marcus P. Blakemore Foundation as well as for the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and the East Central Province voted and completed a reso- lution to support Brother Reuben A. Shelton as he seeks election to the office of Grand Polemarch at the 84 th Grand Chapter meeting in Philadelphia, PA.
• Completed MTA Intake in Spring 2019 with the second highest total of candidates in Province History in one Intake—84 new members initiated. This gave us over 130 new initiates for the 2018-19 Fraternal year. • Conducted Risk Avoidance Training for new members at all Province sanc- tioned conferences, Joseph D. Lewis Leadership Conference and C. Rodger Wilson Leadership Conference. • Engaged Kappa League programs at all Alumni Chapters in the Province, with the hope of recruiting and encour- aging those young men to become future members of the Fraternity. Executive Leadership Training & Succession Planning - Identify and develop exceptional talent for leadership development and succession planning. The East Central Province recog- nized the charge and accomplished the following: • Developed a 3-5-year strategic plan for the Leadership in the Province, for Conferences, for Processes and Meth- odologies, including a Province Planning Team, which will align the Province with the strategies of Grand Chapter. • Established and achieved annual goals for the Board, to identify programs and initiatives that will move the Prov- ince forward.
