Patterson, formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio, who for many monthg has been traveling about the country, representing himself as being connected with various Christian organizations en gaged in prison evangelism. He appar ently endeavors especially to contact persons who are friends of Dr. Thom N. Carter, oï the Inter-Church Prison Evangelistic Association. The police of Cleveland, Ohio; Pittsburgh, Pa., and Rochester, N. Y., have warrants for Mr. Patterson’s arrest. If this man approaches you, have him detained by the police and notify Dr. Thom N. Carter, 4300 Euclid Ave„ Cleveland, Ohio: phone Henderson 6048, by wire. Sidewalk Evangelism With emphasis on actually reaching the unsaved with the gospel, the Na tional Bible Institute has endeavored for many years to carry on evangelistic work on the streets of New York Cfty. Realizing that most gospel preaching is addressed largely, if not almost ex clusively, to groups of persons who are already bom again, students of the school are stressing outdoor witnessing. They believe that probably not more than six or eight per cent of the total reached in this type of work are already Christian believers. Besides the usual type of street preaching conducted by the men students, this past summer three or four of the young women stu dents have been conducting children’s meetings on the sidewalks. Rebuke for Gossip By HELEN FRAZEE-BOWTR “ I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings” (Psa. 77:12). When workers of iniquity The tongues of men berate, I would be silent, Lord, and on Thy work would meditate. When doings of the world engage The thought and speech around, Let my talk be of what THOU dost: I would take higher ground. Men’s scandals do not- mend, alas, To gossiper’s rebuff; But what Thy mercy did for sin Has always been enough.

so the newborn babe in the spiritual realm, receiving the sincere milk of the Word and transmuting it into the re production of Christ within, thus proves that in drinking the milk of the Word he is eating the flesh and drinking the blood of tke Son of man. The analogy is complete, and the teaching is vital. Of course, there is in the spiritual realm, as in the physical, something more than milk to eat. The Word of God also furnishes solid food (Heb. 5: 11-14), but whatever may be the form of the spiritual food that we derive from the Word of God, it is always the Word of God, and when we feed upon it, we ‘ feed upon Him whose name is The Word of God. THE RAPTURE— HOW NEAR? [ Continued from Page 337] dear reader, it is my prayer that you consider thoughtfully the following ad monition: “But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angeld which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. For the Son of man is as a man taking a far jour ney, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and command ed the porter to watch, Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cock- crowing, or in the morning: Le^t coming suddenly he find you sleep ing. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch” (Mk. 13:32- 37). Booklet on Christian Evidences Available Free to Students With the opening of school again this autumn, many young people will face a Challenge to their faith which they may find hard to meet logically. They may have a personal experience with Christ, but they snay have no-answer on a his torical basis for the faith that is in tlfem. It is for such a need as this that a group of alumni of Stanford University and their friends have republished R. A. Torrey’s article on the resurrection of Christ, which is perhaps the best brief treatment of Christian evidences. Col lege faculty members, students, and others who questioned thé historic foun dations of Christianity have completely changed their attitude after having be come acquainted with the remarkable facts which this booklet presents. As long as the supply lasts, a free copy of the article, entitled “The Cer tainty and Importance of the Bodily Resurrection from the Dead,” will be mailed to each high school, college, or seminary student who writes for it. These free copies may be obtained by sending a postal card addressed to

JOHN RUDIN & COMPANY Inc. Pub.: ‘ ‘Book of Life” and “ Stories of Hymns We Love.” 1018 S. Wabash Ave.,Dept. KX, Chicago, 111, desires them to share the heavenly life of the Son of man. But how is this done? How can we eat the flesh and drink the blood of the Son of man? The answer is this: We may eat His flesh and drink His blood through feed ing upon His Word. The Bible is called the Word of God, and Christ is also called the Word of God. In Revelation 19:13, it is written of Him that “his name is called The Word of God.” Elsewhere also in Scripture this name is applied to Him (cf., for example, John 1:1, 14). "As newborn babes” we are exhorted in 1 Peter 2:2, 3, to "desire the sincere milk of the word . . . if so be” we “have tasted that the Lord is gracious.” Here “ the word” and “the Lord” are parallel and equivalent terms; and the teaching is that when we are feeding upon the milk of the Word, we are feeding upon Him. Just as a newborn babe in the physical realm, receiving milk from its mother’s breast, trans mutes the milk into flesh and blood, thus proving that in drinking the milk the child is really eating the flesh and drinking the blood of the mother, just ~
