Government of Canada is working with provinces, territories and municipalities across the country, to support important projects like these ensure that Canadian communities are healthy and sustainable now and for years to come.” “We (provincial government) continue to invest in the kinds of infrastructure projects that keep our communities safe, provide reliable access to clean water, and protect our waterways,” stated Grant Crack, Glen- garry-Prescott-Russell MPP. “The City of Clarence-Rockland is proud to be able to complete its water looping project for the Clarence Creek and Bourget areas, thanks to funding from our federal government,” statedMayor Guy Desjardins. “This project will improve the distribution of drinking water and increase the water pressure, which will be beneficial for firefi- ghting purposes.” The federal and provincial governments are cost-sharing three-quarters of the esti- mated combined budgets for the three pro- jects.The twomunicipalities will finance the remaining quarter of the cost themselves.

Conference allowance increase A $2000 increase to the conference allowance for counties council mayors will be part of next year’s budget discussion report for the United Counties of Prescott-Russell (UCPR). Each of the eight mayors on UCPR council has a $4000 annual allowance to cover expenses, including travel and accommoda- tions, for attending major conferences. This year though, the regular allowance has taken a financial beating with recent decisions by some groups which used to share conference dates and sites to go their separate ways. The UCPR conference allowance is almost exhausted now. – Gregg Chamberlain
