The SDS Team have given us the following detail on the items published: A draft version of the Specification Document containing a full list of data items and associated Business Validation Rules. Whilst this document describes the structure of incoming messages submitted using the Internet/Government Gateway channel it provides all developers with early sight of the required data items. The technical packs for the Internet/Government Gateway and Bacs channels including documentation relating to the structure of incoming messages using the Bacs channel will be published in due course. Please be aware that the Specification Document containing the list of data items is currently in draft and is subject to change prior to being baselined and published in the technical pack on the HMRC website. 18 May 2011 HMRC has today published the RTI specification for employers that do not operate BACs and will therefore have a requirement to file their data via the internet. The CIPP on behalf of its members, who currently use Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) to submit their returns to HMRC, welcome the news that HMRC will ensure this channel is available until 2014, to allow employers and software providers to migrate to either BACs or Internet solutions. It is expected that the specification (MIG) for EDI will be available later in June. Please also note although this welcomed flexibility has been afforded HMRC’s preferred channel for RTI is via the BACs route. Follow this link to view the specification and other related documents 6 July 2011 Technical information has been published to enable software developers to build payroll software products capable of reporting under the new RTI service. Some employers may also find this useful. Employers who are not part of the pilot must join RTI in the period from April 2013 to October 2013. All employers will be using the RTI service by October 2013. HMRC will pilot the RTI service with volunteer software developers and employers for a year, starting in April 2012 to make sure it is thoroughly tested. The technical information published for software developers includes: · an updated technical pack for RTI internet submissions via Government Gateway, to TECHNICAL INFORMATION FOR SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS reflect the need to cross reference data and payment details ('hash') · a technical pack for changes to the Data Provisioning Service (DPS) · Electronic Data Interchange Message Implementation Guidelines (EDI MIGs) · information on how reporting will work in particular business scenarios RTI SPECIFICATION
