The RTI version of BPT for employers starting to report PAYE in real time from April 2013 is available from 28 March 2013. You will need this new version to run your payroll in 2013-14 .

In the meantime, please use HMRC's checklist to help you to start preparing your business for sending your PAYE information to HMRC in real time from 6 April 2013 HMRC’s online services: planned maintenance work Like all businesses that deal with customers online, we regularly update our online IT services. We would like to advise that, from 6:00am on 4 April 2013 to 6:00am on 6 April 2013, most of our online services are being upgraded and will undergo planned maintenance. As such, most of our online services will be unavailable during this period, with a small number of services requiring a slightly longer outage. The PAYE Online service will be available from 06:00 on Saturday 6 April, however following the scheduled upgrade you may experience a delay in receiving your online acknowledgement. We would appreciate if users did not re-submit returns if they experience a delay in receiving their response message between the 6th and 9th. All acknowledgements will be sent by Tuesday 9 April.

Pension Schemes Online – enhancements

Pension Schemes Online Spring 2013 release: forthcoming enhancements We have made a number of enhancements to Pension Schemes Online to be implemented from 6 April 2013. The online service will be unavailable for a few days around this date to allow these changes to be made.

HMRC TWELFTH WEEKLY STAKEHOLDER UPDATE

HMRC has issued the latest update in their informal newsletter to stakeholders. This week’s newsletter contains the last update on Real Time Information before it starts on 6 April. Please do remember this is an informal update shared with representatives for the benefit of members. Real Time Information HMRC is geared up and ready for Real Time Information - the biggest change to the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) system in nearly 70 years. Many of you will have seen our adverts in the paper and online or heard our radio campaign. While most employers have taken the steps they need to be ready, we know there are still some who need to take action by: o Going to www.hmrc.gov.uk/rti to help them choose the best payroll option for them. o Updating their employee records so that they are ready to start reporting in real time. We are offering employers a range of support and guidance, including web pages, YouTube videos, live Q&A webinars every day, regular live Twitter Q&A sessions, and road shows across the country. There is also a wide choice of payroll software available, including some free products (e.g. HMRC’s free Basic PAYE Tools). For more information about this support, go to www.hmrc.gov.uk/rti PCS Union has announced a half day strike for Monday 8 April which may result in a reduced service in our contact centres on that day. Employers and their payroll service providers are reminded to check the website for guidance before contacting HMRC.
