DWP STAKEHOLDER BULLETIN – JULY 2012

The Department for Work and Pensions’ latest Stakeholder Bulletin has now been published.

One of the items included in the Bulletin is about computer-completed fit notes. From early July, GPs will start to complete fit notes on their computer, and give them to patients. Handwritten fit notes will continue to be used in some circumstances.

JOBLESS YOUNG PEOPLE TO WORK 30 HOURS OR LOSE BENEFITS

Jobless young people will have to complete three months’ work experience to claim unemployment benefits, under plans unveiled by the government.

The new scheme will help “reduce benefit dependency” and enable young people to contribute to community projects while boosting their employability skills, ministers have said.
