THE

BSQM 2! Re-awarded

BASIC SKILLS QUALITY MARK ASSESSMENT We are proud to have been re-awarded the ‘Basic Skills Quality Mark’ for the second time. An extract of the report appears below. The full report can be found at : http:// www.abbeyfederation.co.uk/ofsted-reports/ The Executive Head Teacher and Deputy Executive Head Teacher have a clear vision for the role that the school plays in the education of the whole child. The social, emotional and academic development of each individual pupil is an important focus. There is a warm welcome from the moment you enter the building. You are met by displays sharing achievements and pupils’ work, as well as displays celebrating recent events. English and Mathematics are at the heart of teaching and learning at Abbey. The school is developing a balanced curriculum that encourages the pupils to become independent learners and functions in a calm and ordered manner, where learning is enjoyable for the pupils. The staff, both teaching and non- teaching, have developed very good relationships with the pupils in their care and this was evident in the pupils’ attitude to those around them and their learning. The outside environment of the school is used to enrich the curriculum as an alternative source of learning. Everyone articulated their enthusiasm and appreciation for the school and felt valued as an individual. Parents commented, “It is a vibrant school and getting better. New things are happening everyday.” There is a firm commitment to creating a caring environment, where individual needs are met. Well done us!
