Black Country winners! It’s bostin’ tha’ ris’ (Google Translate: That is particularly excellent!)

GOLD On Wednesday 8th May, our girls swimming team, who had previously won their local Sandwell Swimming Gala, travelled across the Black Country to Walsall Gala Baths to compete in the next stage of the competition. Not only were the girls representing Abbey, but they were also now representing Sandwell and were competing against schools from Walsall, Wolverhampton, Dudley and other qualifying Sandwell schools. The girls had to compete in an individual heat, each taking on a different stroke. All 4 of the girls produced sublime performances. Three of them finished 1st in their heat and 2 girls had the fastest lap time overall (including faster than all of the boys too). The final race was a relay and they appeared to have saved the best until last. They swam an incredible relay race and were ahead on all four legs - a dominant performance that once again earned them the fastest time overall. Abbey were awarded Gold Medals for 1st place! Officially the fastest team in the Black Country! Well done Girls!

Thanks to Miss Hinton for the story.
