Totally Telford Magazine I E11 – Autumn -Winter 2026

the Borough’s young people.

As the nights draw in and the weather turns colder, it’s easy to assume there’s little for young people to do during the winter months. In reality, there is a wealth of activities, opportunities and support available across Telford and Wrekin to help young people stay active, connected and engaged. The Council’s Youth Offer is a one-stop shop for young people and families, bringing together information on youth clubs, sports activities, dance and drama groups, uniformed organisations, wellbeing support and opportunities to build confidence and develop new skills. A key part of the Council’s Youth Strategy, the Youth Offer helps ensure young people can access high-quality activities and support that reflect their needs, interests and aspirations. Working with town and parish councils, community groups and voluntary organisations, the Council is helping strengthen youth provision across the Borough and expand opportunities for young people. George Hounsell from the 4 All Foundation, which has been delivering youth programmes in partnership with the Council for the past three years reflects on their work with young people in the Borough. George comments: “As an organisation we have worked closely with young people across the community, providing engaging activities, support, and opportunities that promote personal development, wellbeing, and positive outcomes. “What we love most is seeing the positive impact our programmes have on young people’s lives. Supporting young people to build confidence, develop new skills, form positive relationships, and reach their potential is incredibly rewarding. “We believe we have a positive impact on the lives of young people by providing safe, supportive, and inclusive environments where they can learn, grow, and thrive. By listening to their voices and responding to their needs, we empower young people to make positive choices and reach their full potential within the community.” The Council also works closely with Great Dawley Town Council, which has seen growing demand for its youth provision. Mayor of Great Dawley, Councillor Ben Carter, said: “Working in partnership with Telford & Wrekin Council we are proud to have seen our youth club numbers rise to 60 to 70 children per session. I am extremely pleased to see us delivering for the young people in our area.” By bringing together activities, support services and opportunities to get involved, the Youth Offer is helping young people make connections, develop skills and play an active role in their communities.

“We’re fortunate to have an incredible network of youth providers across the Borough. Together, we are helping young people build confidence, develop new skills and feel connected to the places where they live.” Councillor Shirley Reynolds Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, Education, Employment and Skills.
