Steve, of Top Fruits, said: “I like my gondola style stall because it’s all open plan and more accessible. All the customers are positive and everyone likes it. When the market is all finished it will be superb.” Lisa, of Lesley’s Larder, said: “We’re going to have an absolutely fantastic market at the end of this. There’s big changes but it’s important to focus on the end game as it’s going to be fantastic.”

Wellington Market is being completely transformed to create a new and exciting food and shopping experience. Work is now well into Phase 3 of a project which continues to redevelop this historic asset in Wellington and safeguard its future for the next 50 years. Work completed so far includes: ‘The Cowshed’ food court The market’s new food court, called ‘The Cowshed’, is open for business creating a revitalised food and drink experience within a dedicated building. Six new trading units are now located here next to a seating area and new toilet and baby change facilities. The mix of food stalls in this space is in line with the market’s previous food offer. Alongside the Cowshed, the old, damaged canopy has been removed and replaced with a larger structure. This area remains under construction and once complete will provide an improved, covered outdoor space with additional seating for food and drink customers. This new space will create greater opportunities for traders outside normal market opening hours and accommodate the popular late night events. Purpose built units Eleven traders have all been accommodated in permanent, purpose-built units in and around the Market Hall. They include TF1 Entertainment, JSM Worktops, Drack’s Den, iRepair, Off the Wall, Graham’s Hoovers, Bath & Bed, Lucy’s Shoes, Aladdin’s Cave, Brow & Beauty and Alexander Pets.
“These are exciting times for Wellington. Great progress has already been made and we look forward to seeing a revitalised
market that boosts footfall and remains at the heart of the community. It’s very much business as usual at the market and shoppers are encouraged to visit as usual. Signage is in place to direct visitors to their favourite stalls.” Councillor Ollie Vickers Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for Jobs, Transport & Digital Connectivity,
