A New Year’s Tradition Like No Other The Rose Parade travels 5.5 miles along Colorado Boulevard and features floral- decorated floats, equestrian units, marching bands, and Tournament entries. Many participants have longstanding connections to the Tournament of Roses, helping preserve a tradition that has delighted spectators for generations. The first Tournament of Roses Parade attracted 3,000 spectators and featured flower-covered horse-drawn carriages. More than a century later, today’s floats combine state-of-the-art technology with intricate floral designs and natural materials, creating the spectacular displays that have made the parade world famous.
