JOCKEY CLUB MEMBERS The Jockey Club’s origins date back to at least 1750, when influential members of British high society formed a club to enjoy their shared passion for the turf. This ‘club’ aspect of The Jockey Club continues today, with our Members in effect trustees of the Group’s assets. Members receive no equity stake or dividend as The
Jockey Club is a company incorporated by Royal Charter, with all profits reinvested into British Racing. Jockey Club Members are appointed on merit, on account of their knowledge and experience, and a commitment to supporting our mission. BOARD OF STEWARDS Our Stewards are Members of The Jockey Club elected
to the Group’s main board. They oversee our strategic direction and the performance of our Executive. The heritage title of ‘Stewards’ is retained from a time when The Jockey Club regulated the Rules of Racing and today refers to their role in the stewardship of many of British Racing’s most important assets.
