Kohl’s Customer Service Operation Center
EMJ converted two existing three-story commercial buildings, totaling 240,000 square feet, into workspace for 1,800 employees. The project included a complete interior renovation, as well as improvements to the 10-acre property. The existing mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems were redesigned to accommodate the densely occupied call center environment, which included the placement of new air-cooled chillers, 12 air handling units, and an Evaporcool pre-cooling system. Other features included a 20,000-square-foot full service kitchen and dining facility and an 8,000-square-foot outpatient health and wellness clinic. Designed for LEED certification, the building offers advanced building automations systems, electric vehicle charging stations, and six Solar Tree Array Photovoltaic Shade Systems.
