The site, adjacent to the Foodland, is outside of the municipal water and sewer service area. The township will allow the developer to connect to the municipal service lines located in the residential neighbourhood on the other side of the highway.– Gregg Chamberlain FUTURE LCBO OUTLETS The LCBO has invited businesses in select communities, including several Prescott-Russell communities, to apply for LCBO Convenience Outlet authoriza- tions through a Request for Proposal (RFP). A non-profit seniors’ housing group wants to give new life to the old mu- nicipal nursery property in Vankleek Hill. “We’re looking for a partnership with the township,” said Gary Barton, chairman of the Vankleek Hill Non-Profit Housing Corpora- tion (VKHNPH), during township council’s September 10 session. The VKHNPH operates Manoir Vankleek Hill Manor, a senior’s retirement residence on Derby Street. The group wants to use the old Champlain Nursery property next door for a senior’s social housing addition to the manor. Ed Power, a housing consultant for the VKHNPH, told council the property could accommodate 30 senior living units, with 13 of them designated for low-cost housing and the other 17 for market value. The old day nursery building itself could become a senior’s centre for use of manor residents and other local seniors’ groups. Powers noted that the Vankleek Hill Manor has a “long waiting list” of more than 100 people who want to move in. Half of the names on the list are seniors from the Vankleek Hill area. Another 25 per cent come from other parts of Prescott-Russell. At least 10 per cent are from Western Québec. The VKHNPH wants to apply to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) for both seed money for design studies and
