Peaking! Determination and dedication

CLIMBING Ruqaiyah Najmi, in Reception, has achieved an incredible feat! Over the recent half-term break, this young mountaineer scaled the summit of Pen y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales. After a challenging 3-hour ascent, Ruqaiyah reached the peak, though the summit was shrouded in clouds, limiting the visibility of the breathtaking views the mountain typically offers. The descent took approximately 2 hours, completing a full day of adventure. This remarkable accomplishment showcases Ruqaiyah's determination, strength, and love for the outdoors. Her journey to the top is an inspiration to all, reminding us that age is no barrier to achieving great things. We are incredibly proud of Ruqaiyah and her amazing [Ed - Anhygoel! (that’s Welsh for amazing) and thanks to Ruqiyah’s mum for the story] CRICKETING The boys in Year 5 really enjoy their cricket. Jacob Harrison, James Davenport, James Hillman (5V) and Scott Ferguson (5R) all played for Halesowen Under 9s last season. They had a hugely successful season qualifying for the Under 9s County Finals for the second year running. Unfortunately, the wet and miserable weather in the Autumn meant that the Finals Day competition was cancelled twice and couldn’t be rescheduled. Their hard work and commitment was recognised at the end of season awards with Scott winning the award for Most Improved Player and James Davenport for Bowler of the Year. Well done to all of them! [Ed - Fantastic achievement - six!]
