Back in the forest! Y1 Forest School
SAW Excitement buzzed through the playground last Wednesday as children became outdoor adventurers for the morning! Little hands got busy with bow saws to slice branches into wooden discs, ready to turn into sparkling decorations. Budding bakers whipped up colourful Play-Doh cookies and kindly shared their creations with their teacher. In the potion corner, magical mixtures of rainbow water fizzed and sparkled, while the mud kitchen chefs dug deep for the freshest “ingredients” to add to their muddy delicacies. The finishing touch came with homemade bird-feeders, crafted from cereal and pipe cleaners, giving local wildlife a winter treat. The children loved every moment in the crisp fresh air—mixing, chopping, and creating. Using real tools made everyone feel like true explorers, and helping hungry birds made the day even more special! Abbey has continued Forest School into Year 1 to support the transition from Reception. Thanks to Miss Cowley for the story.
