A determined mum is putting her best foot forward this June — and she’s calling on the community to join her in a powerful mission to support some of the UK’s most vulnerable young people. Polly Jones, whose daughter Emme is a Year 2 pupil , has taken on an incredible challenge: walking a staggering 300,000 steps in just one month as part of the national “Stride for Success” campaign. The initiative, run by the Rees Foundation, aims to raise vital funds for young people leaving the care system — many of whom face life without a safety net. With no family support to fall back on, even basic essentials like food, heating, and emergency costs can become overwhelming. That’s where this challenge makes a real difference. Every pound raised will go towards emergency crisis payments — helping care leavers access food vouchers, keep the lights on, and get through life’s toughest moments. And here’s the twist — every donation Polly raises will be MATCHED by Aviva, meaning every step she takes could have double the impact! Polly said: “I know it might be a big concept for younger children, but I’d love for older pupils, parents, or staff to get involved — whether that’s walking, fundraising, or simply spreading the word. Every step really does count.” The beauty of “Stride for Success” is its flexibility — there’s no set distance, so anyone can take part. Whether it’s a daily stroll, a weekend hike, or a personal fitness goal, you can join the movement and make a difference.
