THE
Superpencil! Year 3 Themed day
DRAWING Abbey’s Year 3 pupils were in for a real treat this week when special guest Mr Marshall — better known as ‘the sensible pencil’ — dropped by to teach the children how to bring cartoons to life. Armed with nothing more than his trusty drawing pencil, Mr Marshall wowed the crowd by sketching classic cartoon characters right before their eyes. The highlight? A quick-fire drawing of the legendary superhero Superman, complete with cape and comic ‑ book flair. Gasps and cheers filled the classroom as every curve and line appeared on the page in seconds. Inspired, the children couldn’t wait to put pencil to paper themselves. Among the budding artists were Imogen and Eve, who teamed up to create their own new superhero: “Millie.” Unlike caped crusaders of old, Millie was a modern, human superhero — strong, stylish, and ready to save the day. “It was fab!” the girls beamed, their sketchbooks proudly held open for all to see. They agreed that seeing Superman come to life and inventing their own hero made the afternoon unforgettable. By the end of the session, Abbey’s pupils left with more than drawings — they carried home the magic of imagination.
Thanks to Eve & Imogen for the story.
