but has made a great recovery and will return as Captain next year. We won the first round against Bishops Stortford but lost in the second to Epsom. Our team at Tandridge won the triathlon against Shrewsbury and Tonbridge with a record score. Congratulations to Peter Dickinson (57-66) team Captain. Our year started well with our Annual Dinner in March at the East India Club, chaired by our Captain Jeremy Brewer (64-71). In 2018 our Captain will be David Rutnam (70- 77); both are past Halford Hewitt players. Our annual Dinner will again be at the East India Club on 8 March 2018; all OAs are welcome. At our Spring Meeting at The Berkshire, David Gearon (55-62) won the Eric Blanch Salver, the 18 hole Stableford Competition. The foursomes competition was won by Alistair Defriez (61-69) and David Somerville (63-69), with the candlesticks presented by the Camp Brothers last year. In the Halford Hewitt, we were at last drawn to play on the Thursday at Royal Cinque Ports against Taunton, whom we beat five nil. We lost in the second round to Canford. The match came down to a blind flighted pitch from Canford over a sand dune, which was holed on the 17th for a birdie. Roger Kelly (81-88) and Simon Anthony (86- 91) (both former Cambridge blues) played the last four holes in one under par to lose this match on the 18th. We would like to thank our team who come from the far corners of the UK and overseas to represent us. Roger Kelly (81-88) for the second year made it to the quarterfinals of the President’s Putter at Rye GC. We wish him good luck for 2018. Peter Foord (72-81) was our Captain of the Cyril Gray team for the over 50s Public Schools competition at Worplesdon was Unfortunately Peter was unwell

We have enjoyed another year of good golf playing some great courses. This year over 80 members played in our golf days and matches. We are fortunate to play some of the best courses in the South East at great rates including New Zealand, The Berkshire, Royal Ashdown and Woking. Our members enjoyed playing competitive matches against old foes Whitgift at Tandridge, Loretto at New Zealand and Alleyn’s at West Kent: great courses and good competitive handicap golf. Next year we have a new match against Royal Ashdown Forest GC. Their Captain in 2018 will be Chris Litterick (60- 68) who played for us in the Halford Hewitt We would like to congratulate Peter Hockless (67-74) on his year as Captain of The Wisley in 2017.

Christmas meeting, lunch and AGM, at Wildernesse Golf Club in Sevenoaks. The date for this event is 7 December and all are welcome to join us for golf and lunch or just lunch. We continue to support our youth policy and I am pleased to say that in our match against the School in September our team of eight included two past Halford Hewitt players with six under 20 year olds. Our youth fund continues to subsisidise our younger members at the Spring and Autumn Meetings, as well as paying for their accommodation and green fees at the Halford Hewitt and Grafton Morrish. We are aiming to do more to attract younger players to get involved.
