Alleyn Club Yearbook 2018

The Old Alleynian Boat Club James Jarratt (04-11) Secretary OABC has enjoyed another fantastic year, aiming to provide opportunities for those that have left the College with any interest in rowing to meet with other like-minded oarsmen. Being a young club, the continued aim of the OABC has been to increase its membership through contact and engagement with recent leavers as well as reach out to those that have left the College and found out about rowing in later years. It was pleasing to see a good turnout for our usual series of events, namely the annual dinner at the East India Club, DCBC dinner, Alleyn Club Dinner and OABC Invitational Regatta. It is always wonderful to see so many faces, old and new at these events and the club is especially appreciative of those that travel from afar and take the time out of their university and work commitments to ensure numbers are always at a good level!

Alleynians pitted against alumni from St Paul’s, St Edward’s and Westminster. Tough racing ensued and Westminster eventually came out on top, fielding a traditionally strong crew. A heavily subsidised bar aided celebrations as well and help alleviate any racing pains. Thank you to all who turned out for this great event.

for any photographs OAs may have of past college crews to document its history and progression as a club and look forward to hopefully receiving some more! It continues to be an aim to frame as many of these as possible so we can and present them to the College for display at the boat house in Putney. Thanks once again to all OABC members for their continued engagement and especially to the committee who put a lot of effort in to organising great events and to the College and wider Alleyn Club community for their support.

The College is fortunate to have access to great coaches and facilities including an enviable boat house on the tideway stretch and a top class gym in the school grounds. Our aim for 2018 is to continue to raise funds which will be invested in the Club while at the same time helping to raise the profile of rowing at the College The College Boat Club has had some exciting results over the years and OAs have gone on to reach the highest level at the Olympic games. We have had a good response to our previous request
