Alleyn Club Yearbook 2018

The Old Alleynian Association Football Ben Precious (02-07) In September the Old Alleynian Association Football Club entered its fourth season off the back of another productive and progressive year. 2016/17 was a significant 12 months for many reasons, though primarily because it was the first full season of the OAAFC 2nd XI. While the demand for Saturday football from so many London based OAs meant the inception of another team was an inevitability, that the side should have been formed so seamlessly and successfully is a testament to all those that worked so hard to make it a reality. 2016/17 was also another stellar year for OAAFC on the pitch and saw both 1st and 2nd teams achieve promotion from Divisions 3 and 5 respectively and the 1st XI reach the semi-finals of the League Cup. Just like every successful modern football club OAAFC are determined to grow off the pitch and professionalise their non-match day operations. While this has yet

to evolve into the appointment of a technical director to assist on player recruitment, OAAFC added legitimacy to their management group this summer with the staging of their first official AGM. An official club charter was signed in by the club members and coincided with the release of Hollywood blockbuster the Death of Stalin. At the same time all the incumbent management were voted back into their positions unopposed. In addition to the further development of a holistic management structure OAAFC are very aware of the need in the world of 21st century football to grow the supporter base abroad and are delighted to announce that 2018 will see the OAAFC brand being taken to the southern regions of France for a warm weather end of season training camp. Before the OAAFC members can dust off those sandals and speedos there is some football to be played and the 2017/18 season has been a mixed one thus far for the club. The 1st XI are to date unbeaten in league and cup and are well placed for a

4th consecutive promotion. The 2nd XI have initially struggled to adapt to their new surroundings in Division 4 but are in to the second round of the League Cup and recorded their first league win of the season recently which hopefully can act as a springboard to fly up the league. OAAFC’s progress can be followed weekly via the Arthurian League website and on Instagram. As ever the OAAFC would always love to welcome new members and please if you are interested don’t hesitate to reach out to Ben Precious (preciousb1@hotmail.co.uk). We train on Wednesday evenings at the Charter School in Herne Hill and all are welcome. Similarly, if Dulwich Hamlet are sold out and you are eager to get behind an attractive, free flowing football team whilst sipping on a craft lager, then OAAFC are always looking for supporters to cheer on their efforts. Again, please get in touch with Ben Precious to find out where fixtures are being played.

*N.B you may have to bring your own craft lager
