October Cambridge lunch

song, performed in true Brian May style from the top of the scaffolding of the Barry Buildings by one of this year’s leavers, Marcellus Chang. The Fireworks Concert bought the day to a close some eight hours later with an affecting performance of Prokoviev’s Romeo and Juliet suite, accompanied by a spectacular display which lit up the sky over the new Laboratory.

Hong Kong OA Reception

The Cambridge lunch was held in the beautiful setting of Trinity Hall, located by the river in central Cambridge. Over 40 OAs, current staff and International OAs of all ages with a connection to the city of Cambridge joined the President of the Alleyn Club, Sir Colin Rimer, at his former College.

November Past Presidents Lunch

September OA Reunion in Japan A small OA reunion took place in Tokyo, organised by our

Fourteen Past Presidents of the Alleyn Club along with committee members of the Alleyn Club and fellows joined the Master and newly elected President Professor Andrew Tomkins OBE for the now traditional post Remembrance Service lunch in the Pavilion Salle. Highlight of the event was the awarding of the magnificent hand drawn Fellowship Certificates by artist Nick de Somogyi (75-81) to Jan Piggott and Chris Field by the Master Joe Spence. Sussex Dinner The lunch hosted by Goup Captain Derek North DL (56-63) was the seventeenth that he had organised since 2001. By contrast it was the first regional lunch attended by newly elected President Professor Andrew Tomkins OBE, held as it has been since Derek took over the organisation at Cooden Beach near Bexhill on the south coast. The final act of the meal was a presentation by Andrew thanking Derek, who is stepping down, for the many years he has organised the lunch.

Thailand Old Alleynians, Alleyn’s Old Boys and girls and JAGS Alumnae held a Founder’s Day dinner party, chaired by H. E. Anand Panyarachun (48-52), at the Renaissance Hotel in Bangkok in commemoration of the 398th anniversary of the founding of The College of God’s Gift by Edward Alleyn.

Wessex Dinner This year’s OA Wessex Dinner at Sherborne School in Dorset,

organised for the first time this year by Dr Michael Fernando (82-92) and Professor Andrew Tomkins (54-61). A pre and post-dinner reception was held in the comfort of Bow House, with dinner served in the magnificent Old School Room.
