To properly select a cylinder there are several factors to consider:
– What is the max load, push and pull, of the application?
HOSES & FITTINGS
– Is this a load holding application? Moving people?
COMPONENTS
– What is the desired mounting used on the base and rod ends?
– How far does the cylinder need to move, extend? (Required stroke)
BEARINGS & BUSHINGS
– What, if any, are the spacial concerns of the cylinders mounting? • Bore size (tube inner diameter, I.D.) determines how much force the cylinder generates on extend • Rod diameter (O.D.) determines the force on the retract of the cylinder
