More city regulation in closed communities. Irvine company hides a lot of issues behind locked doors.

I have never seen any facts about whether or how Irvine would be impacted by a tsunami.

Let people know ahead of time where potential centers for evacuation might be in the event of an emergency. Have an app feature on Irvine's emergency app where people can like a census report all accounted for in their household and those not accounted for, so the City knows how many people are affected in real time and which areas to send emergency or rescue crews too. In the event of a catastrophic emergency, you could have a preset set of instructions walking citizens through on how to help their neighbors ( a crash course CERT in a way). Like- stop bleeding, splint, breathing, etc Or reminders about turning off gas, etc. In an emergency, it's hard to think, and having easy instructions to follow makes a world of difference. Thanks Someone should invent a "termite tent" that is fireproof and can be installed in early evacuation warning periods to protect homes from wildfires.

I appreciate the opportunity to participate in this program. And I very much appreciate that the city of Irvine is so proactive in dealing with these types of issues. Many thanks!

Your emphasis in this questionnaire to global climate change is misplaced. An earthquake, loss of the power grid, significant damage to the water, transportation and communication systems are far greater risks. Of particular concern are criminals, who always take advantage of disaster situations. There are far too many unprepared and untrained people who have no idea what a major earthquake or other disaster will mean. My biggest fear is large scale rioting and looting as people become desperate because they do not have sufficient water. Also without water, it will be impossible to control fires. I am sure you have already thought of these things, but people and fires are my biggest fear in disaster situations. Please keep air quality from both car traffic and fires high on your priorities of hazards to mitigate. Why do we not a have a more robust Reserve police officer and Reserve firefighter program in the city with IPD and OCFA. Or more promotion of it. Texting service for hazard awareness. Hazard awareness plans distributed to local businesses. Community events to create emergency preparation kits. My boyfriend has a physical disability which limits his mobility. Is there a way to notify emergency responders so they can be prepared for his needs should they be called to our home or his workplace? A list of individuals who are able and willing to be contacted to assist in the event of an emergency would be an asset to the community.

A terrorism event is infinitely more likely to occur than anything related to “climate change”, whatever that is. I wish you wouldn’t be so politically correct in your survey questions.

Is the City of Irvine well-stocked with, or can access quickly, vaccines which might be critical in an emergency such as tetanus, cholera, typhoid, flu, etc? See CDC website.
