Two academies join forces on Rockland hockey scene
#e Canadian International Hockey Academy (CIHA) in Rockland is now partnered with the Blyth Academy for its students’ academic curriculum. !e Ottawa campus of the Toronto- based private education institution will handle classroom courses for all Canadian and foreign students enrolled at the CIHA with the goal of pursuing their athletic goals in hockey. When the CIHA began operations in Rockland four years ago, it had an agree- ment with the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) to provide the education curriculum for its students. !e changeover from the UCDSB to the Blyth Academy took place over the past sum- mer. !e Blyth Academy has an interna- tional reputation for excellence with its course curriculum and has close to a dozen campuses operating throughout Ontario and has also now branched out south into the United States through a joint operation arrangement with Temple- ton University in Washington, D.C. $e late summer heat may still beat down outside but inside the main pad at the Clarence-Rockland Arena, the new crop of students at the Canadian International Hockey Academy are trying to keep cool heads as they prove their skills to their coaches during morning scrimmage sessions.
