Cumberland sends Good Samaritan team
Residents from the Cumberland village area are ready to head south next January on a Good Samaritanmission in the Domi- nican Republic. !e 17-member group will take part in a week-long house-building project in that Caribbean country for!e Samaritan Foun- dation. !ey will also be available during their stay to assist when possible with pro- grams for local educational centres and social service agencies. Taking part in the Samaritan mission are Denise Beaton, Carol Fair, Lyle Fair, Deacon Kevin Foley, Monique Foley, Gale Gri"th, Rev. HilaryMerritt, Rev. Robert Mer- ritt, Renata Morawiecka, Bill Pygas, Mar- got Pygas, Francine Seguin, Dave Sharkey, Judy Sharkey, !om Steeves, Adriana Van Munsteren, and Sue Wood. Part of their mission goal included raising
$5000 to assist with construction costs for the latest housing project of the Samaritan Foundation. !e Toronto-based non-pro#t aid group has been involved for close to three decades in infrastructure assistance and vocational training projects in the Domini- can Republic. AVIS DE LANCEMENT DE PROJET CITÉ DE CLARENCE-ROCKLAND RÉVISION DU RÈGLEMENT DE ZONAGE DÉTAILLÉ La Cité de Clarence-Rockland a entrepris la révision du règlement de zonage détaillé de la municipalité. Ce processus de révision vise à mettre en œuvre le Plan officiel de l’aire urbaine de la Cité de Clarence-Rockland récemment approuvé, le Plan officiel de Bourget récemment approuvé et le Plan officiel des Comtés unis de Prescott et Russell, et à mettre à jour les règlements de zonage afin de répondre aux tendances actuelles en matière de planification. La Cité de Clarence-Rockland a retenu les services de J.L. Richards & Associates Limited pour réaliser ce projet de révision du règlement de zonage. QU'EST-CE QU'UN RÈGLEMENT DE ZONAGE? • Un règlement de zonage réglemente l'utilisation des terres, des bâtiments et des structures dans la municipalité, et définit les règles et règlements qui régissent l'utilisation et le développement de terrains et de bâtiments dans la municipalité. POURQUOI UNE MISE À JOUR DU RÈGLEMENT DE ZONAGE DÉTAILLÉ EST-ELLE NÉCESSAIRE? • La mise à jour du règlement de zonage détaillé est nécessaire à la mise en œuvre efficace des nouvelles politiques du Plan officiel en établissant les normes en matière de zones et d’utilisations permises qui tiennent compte des buts et des objectifs du nouveau plan, et pour mettre à jour les cartes annexes qui font partie du règlement de zonage, tel que requis par la législation provinciale. VOTRE AVIS SUR CLARENCE-ROCKLAND! • Au cours du projet, des consultations publiques auront lieu pour permettre aux propriétaires et aux intervenants de participer au processus de révision du règlement de zonage. • Des séances portes ouvertes permettront aux participants de se familiariser au processus demise à jour du règlement de zonage. Ces séances serviront également de tribune pour soulever les questions de zonage qui touchent leurs propriétés et les développements futurs dans leur ensemble dans la Cité de Clarence-Rockland. • Une annonce de ces séances sera publiée dans le journal local et sur le site municipal. NOTICE OF PROJECT INITIATION CITY OF CLARENCE-ROCKLAND COMPREHENSIVE ZONING BY-LAW REVIEW The City of Clarence-Rockland has initiated a review of the municipality’s comprehensive Zoning By-law. This review process is intended to implement the recently approved Official Plan of the Urban Area of the City of Clarence-Rockland, the recently approved Bourget Official Plan, the Official Plan of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell as well as update the zoning regulations to meet current trends in planning. The City of Clarence-Rockland has retained the services of J.L. Richards & Associates Limited to complete the Zoning By-law review project. WHAT IS A ZONING BY-LAW? • A Zoning By-law regulates the use of lands, buildings and structures in the municipality, and sets out specific rules and regulations that control the use and development of land and buildings within the municipality. WHY IS AN UPDATE TO THE COMPREHENSIVE ZONING BY-LAW REVIEW REQUIRED? • The update to the comprehensive Zoning By-law is required to effectively implement the new policies of the Official Plan by establishing permitted uses and zone standards that reflect the goals and objectives of the new Plan, and to update map schedules that form part of the Zoning By-law, as required by Provincial legislation.
