Last year saw Andrew play a major role in helping BMW to secure the Manufacturers’ Championship for a second successive season, although his hopes of securing honours on a personal level were hampered by incidents outside of his control. Illness at Thruxton saw him forced to miss one of the three races and contact at Rockingham and reliability issues at Silverstone conspired to leave him fifth in the end of season reckoning. One thing that was never in doubt, however, was Andrew’s speed – which saw him end the year with the third best qualifying average on the grid. “Last season I feel we had a very strong package, particularly in the second half of the year, and it was only down to bad luck that we weren’t in contention for the title when we got to Brands Hatch for the final round,” he says. “If you take a look at the points we lost at meetings like Silverstone and Rockingham, those are the points that would have put us right up there in the top three, which is where I think we deserved to be. “I think I took big steps forwards from 2017 to 2018 and qualifying is a prime example. In my first year in the BMW, Colin [Turkington] qualified ahead of me nine times but last season, I had the edge on eight of eleven sessions – and one of the ones where he was ahead was at Donington, when I was unable to set a proper time. “That is something that gave me a lot of confidence and to end the year with the best qualifying average of the rear wheel drive cars showed we had the pace – but we just didn’t always have the luck on race day.”

Pirtek Racing

It promises to be another action packed season for Pirtek Racing on track in 2019, with hopes high of more success in the highly competitive British Touring Car Championship. The 2013 title winner, Andrew Jordan, will once again be the man who flies the flag for Pirtek in the most high profile racing series in the UK, having agreed

a deal to remain with the West Surrey Racing team for a third straight season.

It’s a deal that will give the 29-year-old the opportunity to build on the strong results he has secured at the wheel of his distinctively-liveried BMW 125i M Sport over the last two years – which have included four race wins among a total of 10 podium finishes.

That luck is something Andrew will hope is more on his side as he heads into what
