“It won’t be easy – it never is in the BTCC – and the likes of Honda are going to be strong when you consider that they now have twelve months’ experience running the new car they debuted last year. However, we know that the BMW is a fantastic package, as we saw last year with Colin taking the title. Having the defending champion alongside me in equal machinery means he is the first person I have to try and beat and I know that if I can do that, then we’ll be in a good position. Pirtek Racing’s 2019 programme will kick off at Brands Hatch on the weekend of 6/7 April, with thirty races spread across 10 meetings that will culminate in the season finale back at Brands Hatch in October. In the main change for the season ahead, the series will no longer visit the Rockingham circuit in Northamptonshire after it closed its doors as a racing venue. Thruxton in Hampshire – a circuit that happens to be one of Andrew’s favourite on the calendar – will now play host to two meetings. “I’m sure that a good season lies ahead for Pirtek Racing in 2019.”

will be his tenth season running with title sponsorship from Pirtek UK – with 2019 being the first year of an extended three- year deal. It’s a deal that Andrew will hope to celebrate with more plenty more silverware, with regular race wins and a second championship title being the ultimate goal this year. “After two years with the team and with the BMW, I’m feeling in a really good place going into 2019,” he adds. “It’s great to have re-signed with WSR and going into a third season in the same car and working with the same engineer gives me the continuity that I think will be vital for the year ahead.
