Continuous improvement of processes and procedures within HAS ensuring these articulate with and contribute to process improvement across the University where appropriate.

Developing and implementing plans to ensure efficiencies and savings in HAS operations as required from time-to-time by HAS and University strategy.

2. People Management Leadership and management of HAS Professional/Business Services staff including, but not limited to, the direct line management of the HAS Health and Safety Manager and dotted-line management of the HR Manager (HAS), Learning and Organisational Development Manager (HAS) and the HAS IT Manager. In collaboration with the HR Manager (HAS) and the HR Business Partner (Professional Services), manage HR processes in HAS including recruitment, Annual Review & PDR, absence management, performance and disciplinary, grievance etc. In collaboration with the Learning and Organisational Development Manager (HAS), identify training and development needs across HAS and ensure that appropriate development and learning opportunities are implemented to address those. Through the HR Manager (HAS) and the Learning and Organisational Development Manager (HAS), ensure that an effective succession planning strategy is implemented across HAS. 3. Worklink Provide high level support to the Recruitment Manager - Worklink in delivering an efficient and customer-focused student recruitment agency service across the University, whilst ensuring that, at all times, the service is operating in line with all relevant employment legislation and best practice. In collaboration with the Recruitment Manager – Worklink ensure that a robust and legally compliant procedure is implemented and adhered to for all proof of permission to work in the UK checks to be carried out, and that all monitoring and compliance measures are in place for tracking of working hours, in particular for international students engaged via Worklink, so as to ensure that the University’s Tier 4 Licence is retained without restrictions. Lead periodic reviews and updates of the service in terms of standards, policies and procedures to ensure all necessary legislation, guidelines and recommendations are undertaken and adhered to. 4. Nurseries Provide high level support to the Head of Childcare Services in ensuring compliance with all aspects of delivering Child Day Care services in the form of Day Nurseries operated on a commercial basis, providing exceptional high quality Nursery provisions for over 200 infants in line with all Government and Ofsted policies, guidelines and legislation whilst sustaining business continuity. Lead periodic reviews and updates of the service in terms of standards, policies and procedures to ensure all necessary legislation, guidelines and recommendations are undertaken and adhered to. In collaboration with the Learning and Organisational Development Manager (HAS), champion and drive forward the HAS ‘Red Carpet’ behaviours and values programme.

5. Financial Management Assisting the Director of HAS in ensuring that HAS resource planning and financial management support effective planning and decision making.

Working effectively in partnership with the Finance Business Partner on HAS financial matters, including budgetary control and construction of HAS Budgets.

Ensuring that HAS adopts appropriate processes and procedures for all financial transactions, working with Finance Business Partner on a process of continual improvement in this area.

Managing effectively the budgets and resources under their control and as delegated by the Director of HAS.

Understanding, helping to develop and contributing to the effective operation of the University’s planning and budget processes, including the compact process.

6. Strategy Understanding and promoting the University’s Strategic Framework and other University strategies and policies.

Contributing to the development of the HAS Strategy, in particular in relation to administration and operations.

Ensuring effective implementation of the HAS strategy, working in partnership with fellow members of the HAS SMT and Professional Services Business Partners.

Promoting and advancing partnerships and collaborative working at strategic level within HAS, and between the HAS and other Professional Services staff.
