Cults9Critique by Betty Bruechert “ MORMONS CAN BE SAVED" F rom September 1969 to Febru ary 1970, this column ran con descendant of Lorenzo Snow, men tioned by Dr. Talbot as the author of the couplet:
densations of six books on major cults, written by Dr. Louis T. Tal bot. Among these was Mormonism. Many letters were received in re gard to these articles. One was of great interest and significance, from a former Mormon, whose ancestor can be listed among the “founding fathers" of this sect. She has given us permission to quote her letter with this explanation: “ If you feel that using my letter can bring glory to the Lord, I shall be happy and grateful to have you use it. Jesus has done so much for me, I count it a privilege to ex press my love for Him. To be a co laborer with The King’s Business is a double joy. I have profited from it for a number of years; Dr. Tal bot's words have blessed our lives many times." Here then is her let ter of Dec. 3, 1969, written from Grindrod, B.C., Canada: “The article, ‘What’s Wrong with Mormonism?’ by Dr. Talbot (Nov. 1969) is an excellent expose of the error of Mormonism. It is of espe cial interest to me. I am a direct I
‘As man now is, God once was, As God is now, man may become.’ “As far as I know, I am the first of the Snow lineage to become a born-again believer and can say with a grateful heart, ‘I love Him because He first loved me’ (I John 4:19). I know what I have been saved from. My husband was raised in the Reorganized Church of Lat ter-Day Saints and he too has been born again. Our two children are saved and so is our oldest grand child. ‘There is therefore now no condemnation’ in our household. Mormons can be saved! My great- great-grandfather, Lorenzo Snow, used his talent to blaspheme God. I thank God for saving my family and me. We depend utterly upon Him, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Thank you for the strong stand you take against apostasy in any form. Keep up the good work and may God bless you for it. “Signed — Flora Sorenson (Mrs. George Sorenson).” KB
