Traffic on a section of County Road 12 south of Hawkesbury was detoured for several
hours last Friday night as crews worked to extract a southbound truck that had slid into
the west ditch.

December 26 is the date for the fifth Alfred-Montebello Christmas bird count.
Simultaneouslywith all the birding clubs overNorthAmerica, the Club demiroise de l’Est
ontarien (MiroisEont) and the Club des ornithologues de l’Outaouais (COO) organize this
one-day survey that coves both sides of the Ottawa River. Take a count of the birds at your
feeders and/or join members in a sector for a duration of your choice. Two-thirds of the
census circle, with a 25-kilometre radius, are in Ontario around Alfred; the other third
encompasses Fassett, Montebello and Papineauville. Register now with Jacques Bouvier
