Notes from the CEO

Annual Meeting

of Marines and Sailors. Also, throughout 2019, we have hosted classes in our communities on a variety of important topics such as Wills and Trusts, Social Security and Fraud Prevention. Our most recent class was held at our San Marcos branch on December 10 on Home Buying Essentials. Check out our 1st Quarter educational offerings listed in this newsletter. They’re open to everyone! So bring a friend! Heck, bring a whole bunch of friends! Over the past three years we have invested heavily in upgrading our infrastructure. From converting to a new core computer system and a new mobile and online platform, to launching a new brand and new name, it has been a tumultuous time. In that three-year period, we did more to upgrade and build a solid foundation than most organizations would have attempted to do in five years. Yup! We were busy! Really busy! But we got it all done. Some conversions went smoothly. Others, not so much. Thank you for your faith and for hanging in there while we worked out the kinks. We now have a strong foundation upon which to better serve you and to grow. That said, we have a little cleaning up to do – it’s time to break out the sandpaper and smooth out the rough spots. The major focus for Frontwave Credit Union in 2020 is Operational Excellence with an eye toward continuously improving our Member experience. We will work to leverage the strengths of our new systems to generate efficiencies. We will review our products and services to ensure that they are relevant and meet the needs of our Members. We will meticulously analyze our processes to eliminate friction points and provide you with an exceptional experience. We will seek continuous improvements and enhancements to every Member touch point. In short, we really do want to be the best place you ever banked! Thank you so much for your loyalty and engagement with Frontwave Credit Union throughout 2019! It’s 2020, and it’s time to kick it into high gear!

Join us on March 25, 2020 at 5pm at Frontwave Headquarters to hear about the state of the credit union from our Board of Directors and to review the annual report. All Frontwave Members are invited to attend.

Bill Birnie, President/CEO Exciting News! On October 31, 2019, Frontwave Credit Union hit a major milestone when Total Assets surpassed $900 million!! Thank you so very much for your trust, loyalty and engagement in this not-for-profit financial cooperative! Speaking of engagement… As I write this article we are right on the heels of celebrating the 14th annual Frontwave Oceanside Turkey Trot, which just happens to be rated by Runner’s World as one of top Turkey Trots in the nation! Frontwave Credit Union is extremely proud of our decade as the title sponsor of this great event. As a Marine, I love the focus on physical fitness and proper nutrition, but what I think really sets this Turkey Trot apart from all the rest is that a portion of every registration is donated to a local charity of the runner’s choice. This year, over 90 great local charities benefited from the Frontwave Oceanside Turkey Trot. I enjoyed getting to see and speak with many Frontwave Members at the race, and I thank you all for your engagement and commitment to our communities! In addition to our commitment to support our communities, we are passionate about Financial Wellness. Our Military Relations Team has presented hundreds of classes in personal finance to literally thousands

We Hear You!

When we say “we got you,” it isn’t just a slogan. We really do want what’s best for our Members. When you speak, we listen. And we do our best to make things better. So when we heard things like “Have a branch in Escondido, Valley Center, Pauma Valley, any of those places” and “Open a branch close to my location,” we got on it. Over the last year, we’ve opened new branches in Wildomar and Escondido to make banking with us easier and more convenient, and we remodeled our Fire Mountain and Winchester Road branches to provide a better Member experience. We’ve also improved funds availability, so you get your money faster – and we’re continuously working to make your online and mobile banking experiences as smooth as possible. Got more suggestions on where we can improve? We want to know! The next time you visit a branch, call our Member Solution Center or complete an online transaction, you may get a survey asking how we did. That’s the time to tell us what you think. Good or bad, go ahead – we can take it. We know it’s the best way for us to become the best place you’ve ever banked.
